Socio-cultural developments and women's rights in the Bangladesh diaspora

Mr. Hamidul Khan, founder of the Immigrant Book Fair, Frankfurt a.M. and Ms. Eshita Binte Shirin Nazrul, University of Bonn, Department for Oriental and Asian Studies, PhD student

The global increase in migration is accompanied by new forms of self-organization of migrant groups and competing identity networks. Migrants from Bangladesh and other countries have established their own autonomous networks. However, they are also exposed to many forms of discrimination and the practical enforcement of women's rights is often hindered by patriarchal structures.
