Forum Literaturwissenschaftliche Japanforschung:

The Forum for Literary Studies in Japan offers the opportunity to present Japanese studies with a literary focus to a specialist audience and is aimed at researchers from all academic levels. In addition to the open forum on the second day, the 2019 event will also be thematically announced: The first day will be devoted to "Literature and Criticism". In Japan it is common for authors to be critics at the same time. Nevertheless, the secondary genre of critique has so far been underrepresented in German-language research, although well-known writers such as Mori Ōgai, Ōe Kenzaburō or Takahashi Gen'ichirō frequently publish literary criticism and literary criticism. In the form of hyōbanki has been a ubiquitous genre since the Edo period. At the same time, established writers such as Kanai Mieko also write reviews on media other than literature, such as film and photography. In general, hihyō and hyōron are very visible types of texts in Japan.
