In THE ROAD verfilmt John Hillcoat den gleichnamigen Roman des Autors Cormac McCarthy von 2006. Die Protagonisten des Films sind Vater und Sohn, die auf der Suche nach Nahrung durch das postapokalyptische Amerika ziehen. Ihre Reise ist geprägt vom Überlebenskampf unter den teils feindlich gesinnten Überlebenden. Im Anschluss an den Film spricht Wenzel Mehnert von der Universität der Künste Berlin in einem wissenschaftlichen Kommentar zur fiktiven Darstellung des Weltendes und der Reflexion dessen im Film. Danach laden wir zu einer Diskussionsrunde mit dem Publikum.

In THE ROAD, John Hillcoat adapts author Cormac McCarthy's 2006 novel of the same name. The film's protagonists are a father and son who wander post-apocalyptic America in search of food. Their journey is marked by the struggle for survival among the mostly hostile survivors. Following the film, Wenzel Mehnert from the Berlin University of the Arts will speak in an academic commentary on the fictional depiction of the end of the world and the reflection of this in the film. Afterwards we invite the audience to a discussion.
