THE CASSANDRA CROSSING von George Pan Cosmatos ist ein Katastrophenfilm mit opulentem Aufgebot an Filmstars. Ein missglückter Terroranschlag auf ein Labor der fiktiven WHO lässt einen mit einem Pest-Bakterium infizierten Terroristen in einem Transkontinentalzug durch Europa reisen. Die Ausbreitung der Seuche gilt es unter allen Umständen zu verhindern. Ein wissenschaftlicher Kommentar von Daniel Winkler vom Romanisches Seminar Heidelberg zum transnationalen Endzeitnarrativ und zur europäischen populärkulturellen Einordnung des Filmes wird an die Vorführung anschließen. Danach eröffnen wir die Diskussion.

THE CASSANDRA CROSSING by George Pan Cosmatos is a disaster film with an opulent array of movie stars. A failed terrorist attack on a laboratory of the fictional WHO causes a terrorist infected with a plague bacterium to travel through Europe on a transcontinental train. The spread of the plague must be prevented at all costs. A scientific commentary by Daniel Winkler of the Romanisches Seminar Heidelberg on the transnational end-times narrative and the European popular cultural classification of the film will follow the screening. Afterwards we will open the discussion.
