Data-centric Software Engineering:

Data-centric design and validation of collaborative embedded systems

Prof. Dr. Holger Schlingloff, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Institut für Informatik

Embedded systems, i.e., computational systems that are a fixed component of a technical system, are ubiquitous in our environment. Recently, embedded systems have begun to communicate and interact with one another, performing common tasks and sharing common goals. Examples are fleets of self-driving cars or autonomous transport robots. In the design of such collaborative embedded systems, large amounts of context data, representing incomplete and uncertain information about the systems's environment, is becoming more and more important. For example, sensor information from cameras, laser scanners, and other sensors must be matched with internal maps and information from other participants to determine an optimal route at every instant. In this talk, we will sketch some design principles and challenges for the validation of such systems.
