Encounters: New Perspectives on Asia, America, and Europe

• Pat To Yan, Author in Residence, Nationaltheater Mannheim • Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler, Universität Heidelberg, CATS

Encounters, a series of dialogues instigated by the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS) and the Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA), is out to promote the exchange between academia and society. It intends to bring "big names" from politics, business, and the arts to Heidelberg. The envisaged dialogues respond to the growing importance and the dangerous transformation of relations between the two superpowers, the United States and China, which significantly affect Europe as well.
