Roland Emmerich lässt in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW eine neue Eiszeit aufgrund der Klimaerwärmung und der damit verbundenen Abschwächung des Golfstromes entstehen. Die fiktive Darstellung etwaiger Folgen für die Menschheit im Film sollte bereits 2004 als Weckruf für den realen Klimawandel dienen. Nach dem Film wird Thomas Hickler vom Senckenberg Biodiversität und Klima Forschungszentrum Frankfurt (Kooperationspartner des DFF) einen wissenschaftlichen Vortrag mit einer Einschätzung zur Klimakatastrophe und dem Endzeitbild des Filmes geben. Danach laden wir zur gemeinsamen Diskussion, welche Thomas Meier (CAPAS) moderiert.

In THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, Roland Emmerich develops a new ice age due to global warming and the associated weakening of the Gulf Stream. The fictional depiction of possible consequences for humanity in the film was intended as a wake-up call for real climate change as early as 2004. After the film, Thomas Hickler from Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Center Frankfurt (cooperation partner of DFF) will give a scientific lecture with an assessment of the climate catastrophe and the end-time image of the film. Afterwards we invite to a joint discussion, which will be moderated by Thomas Meier (CAPAS).
