The question of what is “authentic” in Chinese music, therefore, has imposed itself from very early on. Looking back on several millenia of musical exchanges, this lecture series (and the seminar going along with it), supported by the Fachschaft Sinologie, will question whether and how it is actually interesting or pertinent to pose this question.
